IRZoom.com is the infrared zoom lens division of Computer Optics Inc (COI), a world leader in optical technology.
Our parent company, Computer Optics Inc. (www.computeroptics.com) has been designing and building lens systems for over 25 years and has completed over 6,000 jobs that deal with the design and manufacture of optical systems and components. This puts us in a unique position to serve the industry: not only do we have the extensive experience required to both design and manufacture lenses of our own, but we also have the expertise to determine who else is making great products. We've carefully selected stock lenses from other manufacturers whose standards for excellence meet our own.
Our Customers
Our customers include many prime contractors such as BAE Systems, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and SAIC, as well as hundreds of smaller concerns. We also work with all divisions of the Department of Defense (DOD) as well as NASA. Our lenses are in use across the world.
Our lenses have been used below the earth’s surface, in the ocean, in the air and even out in space. We work on projects as small as a single unit and as large as hundreds per month.
The Best Lenses Start with Great Design
Within the field of optics, we are vertically integrated. We have in-house designers, optical engineers and manufacturing personnel, all trained in the design and production of lenses. Specifically, we have in-house software for design along with a variety of commercial programs for optical design (we present data using the Zemax Optical program for example). Our mechanical department uses the latest version of AutoCad Inventor and models our lenses using solids.
    
Our Manufacturing Facility
Our own lenses are manufactured in our US-based, 25,000 square foot facility. We are MILSPEC qualified and have passed all of our prime vendors' quality system requirements.
Within our manufacturing plant, we have an optical generation and polishing operation, a CNC equipped machine shop, a thin film coating lab with custom built coating chambers and an assembly and test department. We follow procedures outlined in MILSPEC 13803 in the production of optics.
With our extensive network of partnerships, we offer the latest in stock zoom lenses from across the world, as well as state of the art diamond turning with aspherical generation. We can offer components, lens systems or even integrated camera systems.
Research and Consultation
In the R&D area, COI performs basic and applied research for the Department of Defense applying the principles of Optical Physics to a detection, fire control surveillance, IFF, spectroscopy and targeting. In the industrial area, we design and manufacture machine vision optics and systems for measurement, analytical and recording functions.
