When we created IRZoom.com in 2000, the industry was still purchasing lenses on a project management basis. The benefit of customization is that it allows a competitive edge and precise control of technical specifications, but the downside is that there is always an engineering fee and a significant delay (up to a year) until the first prototypes become available.  In fast paced programs where a demo is required and budgets are tight, these delays can mean the difference between winning and losing.

We decided to change all that.

It's our goal to make extremely high quality lenses available to a broader audience, by keeping them affordable and making them stock.  We set out to create several stock zoom lenses in the mid wave infrared (MWIR) and long wave infrared (LWIR) regions, and have begun work on SWIR lenses.

We base our development on direct conversations with our user base, which is multinational and spans everything from government users to small companies supplying to a variety of end users.

Of course, lens development is an expensive and labor intensive process, but it is what we do best. Each successive year, we have increased our stock lens line and today have several new lenses in process, as well as camera systems that will be released throughout the year. We are also going back and upgrading the earlier versions with better performing models with more features. We invest, so you don’t have to, and lenses are generally available within just a few days or weeks.

In addition to developing our own stock lenses, we actively seek out partners to augment our own product lines.  This allows us to offer the largest, highest quality and most diverse selection of infrared zoom lenses in the world - and remain price competitive.  We've been one of the leading designers and manufacturers of highly precise optics for 25 years.  As such, we're able to rigorously test all lenses before adding them to our collection, and we have chosen to work only with manufacturers whose high standards meet our own.
